Chemins de Fer du Nord et de l’Ouest. Bains de mer du Tréport, printed by Imp. Charles Verneau, invites you to the Belle Époque seaside of Le Tréport on Normandy’s Alabaster Coast. The poster celebrates the town’s sweeping beach and towering chalk cliffs, long prized by Parisians escaping to the Channel. At left, a fishmonger in traditional Norman dress stands barefoot on the sand with baskets of the day’s catch, while a small vignette along the bottom shows the lively promenade and the immense white cliffs that made the resort famous.

This listing is for a high‑quality fine art print of the original travel poster, produced on acid‑free archival paper or artist’s cotton canvas. Available in a range of sizes, your piece can be ordered unframed or expertly framed, with custom mounting and matting options from The Unique Maps Co. We also offer personalization—such as a small dedication on the border or a commemorative date—so your print arrives ready to display or to give.

About the maker: “Imp. Charles Verneau” denotes the Parisian lithographic press Imprimerie Charles Verneau, based on the rue Oberkampf. Active in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, Verneau’s workshop was known for richly inked chromolithography, crisp registration, and bold advertising posters for railways, retailers, and leisure destinations. Their work helped define the look of French travel publicity, pairing enticing imagery with confident typography.

About the place: Le Tréport sits at the mouth of the Bresle River, just north of Dieppe, where the coast rises into sheer white cliffs. In the poster’s inset view, the beach curves beneath those cliffs while sailboats and holidaymakers animate the waterline. The text touts quick rail access from Paris in about three and a half hours, refined hydrotherapy, a casino and theatres, and summer festivities—from regattas to quirky beach competitions—capturing the resort’s mix of fishing heritage and fashionable leisure. A small note even advertises direct service between Le Tréport and London, underlining its cross‑Channel appeal.

About the design: The palette glows with a butter‑yellow ground that sets off scarlet display lettering and deep cobalt‑blue headings. The fishmonger’s slate‑blue bodice and bright red skirt mirror the poster’s type colors, visually binding the figure to the large title “BAINS DE MER DU TRÉPORT.” The composition balances generous negative space with an information‑rich block of text, a hallmark of French railway posters of the era. It’s an ideal piece for bringing coastal light and vintage charm to kitchens, hallways, or living spaces—especially for anyone who loves Normandy’s sea air and the drama of 100‑metre‑high cliffs.

This fine art print makes a thoughtful gift for travelers who’ve visited Le Tréport or nearby Étretat and Dieppe, Francophiles dreaming of the Channel coast, or anyone who cherishes Belle Époque graphics. Perfect for birthdays, housewarmings, anniversaries, or as a nostalgic Christmas or Father’s/Mother’s Day present.
